Sensex slips more than 150 points; Nifty below 9600-mark

Sensex ends 153 pts lower ahead of long weekend

The 30-share pack, which opened at 31,352 against the previous close of 31,290, witnessed a 255-point swing in intraday trade.

Markets will remain closed on Monday on account of "Id-ul-Fitr" (Ramzan Id).

Domestic equity indices slipped into the negative zone on Friday amid profit booking ahead of a long weekend. Nifty broke below the 9,600-mark. Shares of state-owned lender SBI fell 2.1 percent after gaining in the last five sessions. Nifty also closed in on 9,700 in Thursday's afternoon trade after which the erosion started which continued till Friday.

Sector wise, the BSE auto index lost 1.54 per cent, PSU 1.50 per cent, oil&gas 1.13 per cent, consumer durables 1.09 per cent, capital goods 1.04 per cent, realty 0.89 per cent and bankex 0.74 per cent.
