Rosenstein Says He Wouldn't Fire Special Counsel Without Good Cause

Trump attorney Jay Sekulow hinted to George Stephanopoulos that he found some of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's behavior troublesome

Mueller was succeeded by James Comey, who was sacked by Trump last month while he was overseeing the investigation into potential Russian interference into last year's election and potential collusion with the Trump presidential campaign.

"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy told PBS host Judy Woodruff this week.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America" that while he feels "independent counsels are very unsafe", he doesn't think Trump should force Mueller out.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation is a "rigged game" because most of Mueller's lawyers have donated to Democrats.

Ruddy, a close friend of the president's, said he thought the move would be a "very significant mistake", while expressing concern over potential conflicts of interest that could impede Mueller's investigation.

Even though the White House has denied Trump made comments about firing Mueller to Ruddy, many are still speculating as to what would happen if Trump tried to fire Mueller.

Ruddy issued a terse response directed at Spicer, but also admitted he didn't speak to Trump personally about this.

But in this particular case, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from anything relating to the Russian Federation investigation.

In the interview, Mr Ruddy said Mr Trump had considered replacing Mr Comey with Mr Mueller, who served as Federal Bureau of Investigation director during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations.

"I don't think Newt said that", Graham told reporters.

Orioles select JU's Michael Baumann in Major League Baseball draft
At 142nd overall, his slot value calls for a $356,900 payday, which may or may not be enough for him to forgo going to college. The Philadelphia Phillies chose outfielder Yahir Gurrola, who played at El Dorado, in the 27th round of the draft.

This apparent effort to lay the groundwork for Mueller's firing raises a key question: Could the president do it?

Regarding Ruddy's comments, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said: "Mr".

Rosenstein may be asked to address the issue when he speaks at a Senate subcommittee hearing Tuesday morning. "If there were good cause, I would consider it; if there weren't good cause, it wouldn't matter to me what anybody said".

After all, the current version of Special Counsel was created under the Clinton administration, with the rules drafted by Janet Reno's Justice Department to put distance between the White House and Justice. In a volley of hostility, last week media personality Rush Limbaugh took to the radio endorsing the suggestion for Trump to fire Mueller.

According to reports, questions are being raised concerning the former FBI Director's impartiality because of his friendship with fired FBI Director James Comey, hinting that he could not be trusted to lead the investigation.

Ruddy's comments came as several conservatives began to question whether Mueller could be impartial in overseeing the Russian Federation probe.

"If President fired Bob Mueller, Congress would immediately re-establish independent counsel and appoint Bob Mueller", the California lawmaker tweeted.

Rosenstein is the only person who can fire Mueller under current Justice Department regulations - though those regulations could theoretically be set aside.

Comey leaked those memos because Trump was trying to get a legitimate and important investigation ended, a clear case of corruption. Sessions told senators on Tuesday that he'd recused himself because he was part of Trump's campaign.
