Harry Kane cherishes 'special' England equaliser against Scotland

11 June 2017, 10:20 | Ignacio Smith

Kane's goal was the Tottenham Hotspur striker's sixth in 18 worldwide appearances and came at the end of his first game under Southgate, after injuries had kept him out of England's six previous matches.

"We have four games left and four very winnable games and as long as we take the performances from the last two games we will give ourselves a great chance".

The former Scotland and Manchester United midfielder said he was impressed with the physical presence of Gareth Southgate's young England side - and how his men coped with it.

"We are disappointed but we have got to be proud of ourselves".

Kane's strike, his sixth in 18 England games, was a sucker-punch for Scotland manager Gordon Strachan, whose side remain in fourth place, three points off a possible play-off berth.

Of the second, he said: "I think Joe Hart should save it again.

It's not three points but it could be a massive point in the end", he said.

Apple pushes Siri to the fore at annual developer conference

"We got ourselves into decent positions and didn't quite finish but the objective's to qualify and we still sit top of the group".

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had put England in front in the 70th minute.

"Because the difference of where the players play and the standard we were playing against, the gulf was probably the biggest gap I have seen for a wee while in big games which I have won". I will look at the players and tell them you have to keep coming back and taking knocks like that.

"Whatever anybody thinks about us as a group of players, one thing you can't question is their personality, character and commitment". He's a great character, you know, a wonderful character.

Strachan added: "I saw Scotland's best ever free kick and then I see Scotland's second-best free kick, and then I have a noise that I have never heard anything like before".

"It is annoying for them -- I can't be annoyed".

"That was the one, at 60 years old, that could have been the best result of my footballing career", Strachan said.
