The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, is mounting an unprecedented diplomatic and economic blockade against Qatar, alleging ties to terrorism.

Kuwaiti emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Sabah has said that he has initiated mediation efforts to seek a solution to the regional crisis but the minister said that his country had not yet received any request.

Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani would visit Moscow on Saturday amid a diplomatic row among Gulf states, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

On Wednesday, US president Donald Trump - who the previous day had taken the side of the anti-Qatar front - said he was willing to host the two sides at the White House to discuss an agreement. Qatar says the charges are baseless. He offered no documents to support his claim, but Western officials long have accused Qatar's government of allowing or even encouraging funding of Sunni extremists.

"We are an independent country with sovereignty", he told AFP, rejecting tutelage from other states.

"We have been isolated because we are successful and progressive..."

Foreign minister said that UAE is exploiting trading position as a political tool. "We are a platform for peace, a platform for alternative policy in this region", he added.

The foreign minister added that if there were real reasons, "there wouldn't have been such an escalation and the media fabrications wouldn't have portrayed such a wrong image about Qatar in an attempt to undermine its security and stability" based on "false stories and fabrications".

While the foreign minister said Qatar had not yet been presented with a list of demands by countries which cut off ties with Doha on Monday, he insisted it be solved by peaceful means.

He also said he expected no changes in Qatar's arrangement with the United States, with the Gulf state hosting the biggest U.S. military base in the Middle East.

Ghobas said: "The idea that there is an Islamic solution to Middle East's social and economic problems is not something we are persuaded of".
