Manchester United are unlikely to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic an extended contract

Manchester United are "unlikely" to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic another contract for the upcoming season, according to reports.

However, the Swede suffered a serious knee injury in the Europa League quarter-final win over Anderlecht in April and Express Sport understands his contract, which is up this summer, will not be extended.

Ibrahimovic's current deal expires at the end of the month, but United have the option of a 12-month extension when it is complete.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 objectives, including a victor in the EFL Cup last against Southampton, before suffering a knee injury throughout United's Europa League quarter-final versus Anderlecht.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals for United and became hugely popular among the supporters but, at 35, he is not expected to be kept on with manager Jose Mourinho looking at recruiting a new first-choice "number 9" - Daily Telegraph.

Paul Pogba has spoken out about his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United, claiming he's a player that has always helped the team on and off the pitch.

Reported target Romelu Lukaku appears close to leaving Everton for former club Chelsea, while Torino striker Andrea Belotti and Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata are other options.
