Kellyanne Conway's husband calls Trump's travel ban tweets 'sad'

A partner in the litigation department of New York-based Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, George Conway had last week took himself out of consideration for Solicitor General job and released a statement to media saying that "the right time for me to leave the private sector and take on a new role in the federal government".

Conway again stressed, however, that the president's tweets "seriously undermine" his own administration's agenda, a point that has also been made by other legal experts.

Presidential Counsellor, Kellyanne Conway stopped by the Today Show on Monday to go to bat for her boss on everything from terrorism, to Twitter.

President Donald Trump is criticizing his own Justice Department for asking the Supreme Court to review a "watered down, politically correct version" of the travel ban he signed in March.

From outside the White House, however, the response to the tweets was unanimous from all points along the legal spectrum: Trump is not helping himself, and, to the contrary, he is making defending the executive order more and more hard. The original order indefinitely blocked the admittance of Syrian refugees and included Iraqis on the list of nationalities that are temporarily barred from entering the U.S.

Conway said the outcome at the high court "is what actually matters". He has argued in front of the Supreme Court, and frequently appears in appeals courts.

MSNBC Hits Ratings Milestone Amid Blitz Of Trump Bombshells
The network's weekday prime-time lineup, long the king of cable news, finished behind MSNBC in viewers last week. Fox News was a close second in total viewers with 2.405 million and CNN ranked third at 1.649 million.

As for George Conway's wife, Kellyanne, well, she's been trying to do her best to rectify Trump's public commentary with the party line.

Mr. Trump began the day with a series of tweets criticizing judicial resistance to his proposed travel ban, which would prevent people from entering the US from a number of Muslim-majority countries.

"Which is why I said what I said this morning", he continued.

However, she says Trump will not take that step in order to ensure a "swift and thorough examination of the facts" related to Comey's firing and the multiple investigations into Russia's election meddling.

Instead, though, the President sent six tweets on Monday morning about the mayor of London, his travel ban and his Justice Department.

The three moved away from the attack and then devoted air time to covering the travel ban as well as former FBI Director James Comey's upcoming Senate hearing.
