ESPN Parts Ways With John Clayton In Ongoing Layoffs

ESPN reportedly lays off Hall of Fame NFL reporter John Clayton

Latest ESPN layoff: Long-time NFL insider let go

Longtime NFL insider John Clayton is reportedly the latest big name to be let go as part of the network's major restructuring.

While Clayton will no longer contribute to ESPN he will continue with his local radio show on ESPN 710 Seattle.

The network's National Football League coverage has taken previous blows with the departure of Ed Werder, who'd been with ESPN since 1998, and Trent Dilfer, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback who joined the network as an analyst in 2008.

"I am well taken care of by ESPN", he wrote. In 2016, the company cut ties with Cris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson and Ray Lewis.

Lib Dems plan to 'sack' Southern Rail, says Lewes candidate
Mr Farron, who is due to launch his party's manifesto on Wednesday evening, spent the morning visiting Holland Park School in west London.

He joins a laundry list of strong talent to be given their walking papers by the cable television empire, including the likes of Chad Ford, Andy Katz and Ed Werder.

News that Clayton was laid off spread across the internet Wednesday morning before he confirmed the reports to his 1.4 million Twitter followers. It is the end of an era for "The Professor", who had been at the Worldwide Leader for 23 years.

John Clayton, who did most of his live shots from his Seattle-area home studio, appeared in perhaps the most famous satirical "This is SportsCenter" commercial ever.

Since then, names of those affected have dribbled out, with an ESPN source indicating that it was up to laid-off employees to announce their status. Clayton also has a radio show and in 2007 was inducted into the writers' wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
