Fox News Trails CNN, MSNBC in New Prime-Time Ratings
Entertainment Weekly adds that MSNBC was the most-watched network across all of cable in primetime for the week of May 15-aside from TNT, which had been showing National Basketball Association playoff games-pulling in an average of 2.44 million viewers each night. Fox News was a close second in total viewers with 2.405 million and CNNranked third at 1.649 million. ESPN's coverage of the Golden State/San Antonio NBA series gave it the fourth and fifth best-rated programs of the week, with coverage of the NBA Draft Lottery coming in eighth. (That's in the demo and total viewers.) But with CNN and MSNBC on its heels in different dayparts, this last week will prove to be make-or-break for all parties.
Given all the lawsuits, settlements and huge prime-time turnover in talent, you might think things could not get worse for Fox News. It averaged 3.45 million viewers in prime time to Fox News Channel's 2.17 million, MSNBC's 1.79 million, ESPN's 1.69 million and USA's 1.45 million.
The network's weekday prime-time lineup, long the king of cable news, finished behind MSNBC in viewers last week.
Fox News, long the leader in the cable TV news ratings war, finished in third place in prime-time viewing last week among a key demographic for the first time since 2000, according toNielsen.
Fox News' primetime ratings continue to tumble after the departure of longtime host Bill O'Reilly. Fox snared 884,000 viewers between 25 and 54, compared with 729,000 for CNN and 444,000 for MSNBC.
China and ASEAN Near A Code of Conduct? The Philippine government maintained that it owns the territory where Filipino troops and villagers have lived for decades. Besides China's territorial claims in the area, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Taiwan have rival claims.
Fox News largely avoided covering Trump's revelation of classified information to Russian officials, along with his leaning on Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey and his four-part, fundamentally contradictory change in explanation for his firing.
The big picture is this: Cable news, as a medium, is careening toward a defining moment that could transform it significantly or return it to the status quo of the past decade.
Among the clear winners was MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, whose "Rachel Maddow Show" finished first in two time slots for the week: 8 p.m. CT, during which it airs live every weeknight; and again at 11 p.m. CT, during its nightly rebroadcast.
"I do cable news in kind of a weird way, and we haven't changed the way we do the show at all", Maddow said. Fox's tone during those years was arguably less pro-Bush then than it is pro-Trump now, especially during the second term as conservatives grew more frustrated with the administration, which might hold some lessons for Fox now.

Drake wins record 13 Billboard Music awards
Drake has made a habit of skipping awards shows in recent years - even the 2016 Grammys, for which he was a top-nominated artist. Or maybe it was a conversation about that emotional performance of My Heart Will Go On that cleared the air.
