Tampa Bay bid to be a Super Bowl site when the league gave out the bids for 2019-21, but it barely missed the cut as Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles were awarded Super Bowls respectively.
It was originally scheduled to be played in Los Angeles, but construction of the new stadium in Inglewood, Calif., has endured delays because of unusually wet weather.
In Chicago for their annual spring meeting, National Football League owners also announced changes to the overtime period and the Super Bowl hosting schedule.
Now this will not free players up to celebrate in ways that the league will deem "offensive" or that delay the game, but this is as close to a purely positive rule change as I can imagine.
The NFL also would have had to waive a rule that prohibits a Super Bowl being played at a stadium before it has hosted two full regular seasons.
"As work continues on the transformational sports and entertainment district being built at Hollywood Park, we are looking forward to moments such as a grand opening during the Summer of 2020 and the Super Bowl's return to Los Angeles after almost three decades", Demoff said. Those teams will now host the league's showcase event in 2022.
"So what we felt is the right thing, is don't put any risk to the Super Bowl, which is an incredibly complex event", National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell told the media, per Gonzalez.
Rolf Harris to be released from prison tomorrow Rolf Harris has arrived back at his home in Berkshire this morning, following his release from Stafford Prison earlier today. The former entertainer, 87, will be released on bail as he faces a fresh trial over alleged indecent assault offences.
Asked whether he celebrated the new guidelines approved at Tuesday's spring meetings, Goodell just laughed.
"I did", he said. "Our focus is more on the caliber of building than the exact year of the Super Bowl".
"Everybody has a different idea where the line is", the commissioner said.
National Football League owners have approved a rule change which will limit the overtime period from fifteen minutes to ten.
"We saw a lot of interest in liberalizing and allowing the players a little more freedom to be able to express their joy, their individuality and frankly celebrate the game", he added. But the league is placing an emphasis on speeding up the pace of games. The 40-second play clock will begin once an official signals a touchdown and teams will have to snap the ball for their extra-point play by the end of the clock.
The change covers preseason and regular-season contests. Former player Jon Runyan, who is in charge of on-field disciplinary actions, will decide the fines. "But some things will still be open to interpretation".

Drake wins record 13 Billboard Music awards
Drake has made a habit of skipping awards shows in recent years - even the 2016 Grammys, for which he was a top-nominated artist. Or maybe it was a conversation about that emotional performance of My Heart Will Go On that cleared the air.
