European policing and security agencies said the fallout from a ransomware attack that has already crippled more than 200,000 computers around the world could deepen as people return for another work week.

USA package delivery giant FedEx, European vehicle factories, Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica, Britain's health service and Germany's Deutsche Bahn rail network were among those hit.

A screenshot of the warning screen from a purported ransomware attack, as captured by a computer user in Taiwan, is seen on laptop in Beijing, Saturday, May 13, 2017.

"More action is needed, and it's needed now", he said.

British media had reported a year ago that most public health organizations were using an outdated version of Microsoft Windows that was not equipped with security updates. However, if your devices have been infected by WannaCry - the malware that has affected the NHS' computer system - the ransomware will lock your entire PC.

"These systems will always remain susceptible to attack if you don't update operating systems or isolate the worm".

Tayo Dada, a Christian and ex-hacker who now runs Managed IT Services, told Premier: "There is definitely a massive, exponential rise in the number of hacking attacks. but, unfortunately, people are not taking the proactive steps in order to ensure they are being a lot more suspicious about what files they're opening and how they secure their networks".

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Screen Size Revealed In New Report
The better location of the feature should be either at the center of the Galaxy Note 8's back or embedded underneath the display. Apart from South Korea, the phone is slated to be released in more markets soon after being released in the country.

It affected businesses, governments, and individuals across the globe, particularly those using Windows XP and other unsupported Microsoft operating systems.

First, there was a highly risky security hole in Microsoft Windows, which became known after hackers leaked tools that were apparently created by the U.S. National Security Agency to exploit the hole. State media reported that digital payment systems at some gas stations were offline, forcing customers to pay cash.

NHS Grampian said it remains "completely confident" no patient data was accessed in the ransomware attack, which hit 13 health boards across the country and countless nationwide, leaving some with a backlog of postponed appointments to contend with.

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has come out with list of dos and don'ts and webcast on how to protect networks from the global ransomware attack. Fedex said Friday it was "experiencing interference with some of our Windows-based systems caused by malware". It said less than 1 percent of computers were affected, and that the virus was now "localized" and being destroyed.

"For those organizations who have not yet applied the security update, we suggest you immediately deploy Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010".

Some reports say Russian Federation has seen more infections than any other country.

Technical staff scrambled yesterday to patch computers and restore infected ones. Soon after the leak, hackers infected thousands of vulnerable machines with a backdoor called DOUBLEPULSAR.
