APR Data Shows Continued Academic Success

Marquette Student-Athletes Continue Academic Success

USC's football and men's basketball teams each posted all-time highs in the NCAA's multiyear academic progress rate assessment, or April. With the exception of women's track, all of those programs were above the national average among Division I schools that sponsor those sports. "I'm proud of the work our students have done inside and outside the classroom, along with how well the coaches have managed their programs and the guidance provided by our academic staff".

"The latest April report is just another indication that Razorback student-athletes continue to raise the bar academically on their way to graduation", Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. The women's tennis team has now posted a flawless score in three consecutive years and five times overall since the start of the APR. Pitt had a school record four programs - men's basketball, softball, women's cross country and women's tennis earn NCAA Public Recognition Award for exemplary APR.

APR, a metric first introduced by the NCAA in 2003, tracks the progress toward graduation for athletes in all sports, measuring their eligibility and retention for each academic term. Three-point improvements in baseball and football four-year rates contributed to that increase.

Every Division I sports team across the nation calculates its April each academic year, similar to a report card. The Crimson Tide football program received a score of 980, tied for second place (with Auburn and Florida) in the 14-member Southeastern Conference. The time period of the multi-year score included when the Huskies won the 2014 national championship and advanced to the second round of the '16 NCAA tournament. This year's numbers cover the 2012-16 academic years. Men's and women's golf carry ideal multi-year rates for the past four years as well.

In 2016-17, a total of 100 Razorback student-athletes graduated in the fall or are on target to participate in commencement ceremonies this spring. Earning a flawless 1,000 score for GU were the women's basketball, women's tennis, men's and women's golf, men's and women's cross country, and men's soccer programs. In 2015-16 and beyond, teams must earn a four-year April of 930 to compete in championships. The program scored a flawless 1,000 multiyear rate.

Oil rises on prospect that output cut could extend beyond 2017
Saudi Arabia expects to extend until the end of 2017 the OPEC-led deal struck at the beginning of the year which cut oil output. Since a low point on May 27, 2016, USA producers have added 387 oil rigs, or about 123 percent, Goldman Sachs said.

Football earned a multiyear score of.984 and single-year April score of.978.

The five teams with a ideal mark included four women's teams - beach volleyball, cross country, golf and tennis - and one men's team, volleyball.

The nine programs' rankings were based on multi-year scores in their respective sports.

MSU football ranked 10th in Big Ten with a 974 April score for 2015-16. No Herd teams scored lower than 949. The average four-year rate for all NCAA sports in the latest data is 981, up two points from last year.
