White House, some conservatives agree on health care changes

White House, some conservatives agree on health care changes

We've heard opponents of the GOP Obamacare replacement bill continously - and tiresomely - quote the CBO report on how many Americans will lose their insurance if the bill becomes law. The CBO said a total of 24 million more people would be uninsured in 2024 under that scenario. Cohn and Mulvaney said CBO should instead should analyze whether patients can actually afford to go to a doctor. That included a projection that the bill would reduce the deficit by $337 billion over 10 years, mostly because of those big cuts to Medicaid.

Rep. Leonard Lance, New Jersey Republican, said he can not vote for a plan that won't make it through the Senate, where Republicans are mulling ways to soften the edges of the plan. This would give states the freedom, but not obligation, to enact new rules demanding all able-bodied people to be employed in order to receive Medicaid.

Or maybe, as Ryan says, it's all according to plan.

Attacking the CBO now will only strengthen the argument that President Trump and his backers on Capitol Hill live in a world of alternative facts and relative truths. The CBO's current director, Kevin Hall, was appointed by Republicans in 2015. Nevada's Dean Heller, Ohio's Rob Portman, and Arkansas's Tom Cotton are among the Republican senators who have expressed reservations about the House bill. Without most people on board, the House can not even get it to the Senate to even consider.

The GOP bill - the American Health Care Act- would repeal major elements of Obama's law, cap future federal spending on Medicaid for low-income people, and reverse tax increases on wealthy Americans used to finance coverage expansion. "I committed to President Trump that I would support this plan if it contains the changes we agreed to today", the Columbia City resident said. A dramatic example, as reported by Business Insider, concludes that under the new plan the 400 wealthiest households in America get a tax cut of seven million dollars per household per year. If they really believe that, they are in total denial about what the rest of the American people already know; Obamacare is doomed and only massive changes can prevent a total breakdown of the health insurance industry. One out of every 14 Americans who now has insurance would lose it over the next decade.

Wave Of Bomb Threats Against Jewish Centers Continues
Due to the nature of the threat, JCC officials decided the keep the facility open while an HPD K9 checked out the building. Sunday's incident follows a spate of anti-Semitic actions against Jewish centres across North America in recent months.

After a White House meeting between President Donald Trump and around a dozen House Republicans and late night telephone talks, a leader of one group of House conservatives said he and others were now backing the legislation.

This literally happened. Tucker Carlson: "The counties who voted for you will do far worse under your plan" Donald Trump: "Oh, I know". One leading House conservative said the alterations were insufficient and claimed enough allies to sink the measure, and support among moderates remained uncertain.

The hope - described as a "pretty hard target" by Rep. Bradley Byrne - is for the AHCA to go to a final House vote on Thursday. "This legislation that the speaker's brought forward doesn't do that". He said on Tuesday that the bill "would be open to amendment" when it reaches the Senate.

"The debate that is forming will allow conservatives to enhance and improve what has been proposed", he said, "and I think this could represent a win for patients, health care providers and the taxpayer alike".
