GPS Reveals Chilling 2nd Stop by Dylann Roof

24 February 2017, 12:50 | Clarence Schmidt

Because he had to leave his day job late, the pastor of a SC church canceled his weekly Bible study class.

Prosecutors said Branch AME Church also had a sign advertising a Wednesday night Bible study.

Dylann Roof, the white supremacist terrorist who killed nine churchgoers in a racially motivated hate crime in Charleston in 2015, had lists of other black churches in his vehicle the day of the murders and had targeted them for further killings, according to court documents released Tuesday. His GPS device deactivated for approximately two to three minutes, which is consistent with stopping the auto, according to prosecutors.

He said he was shocked to learn through news reports that his church had been Roof's target as well.

The Bible study at Branch AME had been canceled that night, the church's Rev. Rufus Berry told the Post and Courier newspaper.

Roof was sentenced to death in January after a jury convicted him of all 33 federal charges.

The documents contradicted defense arguments that there was no evidence suggesting a second church attack.

Roof apparently told Federal Bureau of Investigation agents that he was too exhausted after attacking Emanuel to continue shooting, according to the report. He is now being held at the Charleston County jail while he awaits a state trial on murder charges stemming from the attack.

During trial, prosecutors presented evidence showing that the self-taught white supremacist, now 22, had lists of other black churches in his vehicle when he was arrested in Shelby, North Carolina. No date has been set for his trial, which had been indefinitely postponed during the federal proceedings.
