Two Rockets Fired From Sinai Hit Southern Israel

Bomb kills at least five soldiers in Sinai

Lieberman's remarks came after two rockets launched from northern Sinai landed in southern Israel Monday morning, hours after the Islamic State group in Sinai accused the Jewish state of killing five of its members in a drone strike on Saturday.

The missiles exploded in an open space in the Eshkol Region, causing no casualties or damage. "No injuries reported. Israeli Defense Forces are searching the area", the Israeli Defense Forces Spokesperson Peter Lerner posted on his Twitter page.

A rocket attack around two weeks ago on the Israeli costal city of Eilat was claimed by the Egyptian branch of Islamic State.

Photographs in the Israeli media showed homemade rockets constructed from metal piping.

On 9 February, a volley of rockets from Sinai targeted the southern Israeli resort city of Eilat, with three intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defence system and the fourth exploding outside of the city.

It was clear that Liberman's allusion was a response to the recent rocket attack launched from Sinai towards Israeli territories.

Hamas, the Palestinian terror organization that controls the Gaza Strip, has been harboring Islamic State leaders, sheltering them from Israeli and Egyptian security forces.

Egypt is waging a military campaign against Islamist extremist militants in the Sinai, who have attacked Egyptian civilians and soldiers.
