An investigation was underway after three people including two officers were shot in Whittier on Feb. 20 2017

The shooting was reported shortly after 8 a.m. near Colima Road and Mar Vista Street.

The victims were two Whittier Police Department officers and a suspect, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The officers, who had not yet been identified, approached the suspected gunman's vehicle completely unaware that it was stolen.

An investigation was underway after three people, including two officers, were shot in Whittier on February 20, 2017. Corina said police believe the suspect is a gang member who the officers did not know.

The wounded officer was in stable condition, said Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

Aerial video from KTLA showed partially shattered windows of a Whittier police SUV, as well as damage to a sedan and a weapon on its trunk.
