Tundra TRD Sport and Sequoia TRD Sport
The Japanese automaker rolled out sportier trim levels for the RAV4, Sequoia and Tundra on Thursday that clearly were meant to align with the company's "let's go places" tagline.
The platform mates, which have gotten refreshed over the years but haven't had full redesigns in over a decade, will be offered in TRD Sport trim, an aesthetic package not to be confused with the lineup of TRD Pro trucks made for off-road sport.
Apart from the Tow Prep Package mentioned above, Motor Trend reports that the crossover SUV also comes with a stock Trailer Sway Control, Toyota Safety Sense-P suite for convenience and safety features, as well as a Hill-Start Assist Control. Aiding driving performance will be the TRD Sport Tuned Bilstein Shocks and TRD front & rear anti-sway bars.
The final model Toyota unveiled at the show is the 2018 RAV4 Adventure.
Set to arrive in U.S. dealerships in September, the RAV4 Adventure is actually more than just some clever badging and marketing. Its capability continues with large over fender flares, lower bodyguards, 18-inch black alloy wheels, and roof rails. To make the most of the motor's power, the auto comes with special Bilstein shock absorbers and beefed up front and rear anti-sway bars.
Inside, the RAV4 Adventure benefits from unique furnishings including a leather-wrapped shift knob and special door-sill trim.
In addition to the TRD Sport, Sequoia will be available in SR5, Limited and Platinum grades in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. But that's ok I'm still optimistic. When I'm not behind the laptop writing I'm on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled with a petrol engine! Both vehicles receive subtle styling updates and get new features for 2018. LED Headlights are also standard.
Visual updates include a new front grille and bumper inserts, metallic black mirror caps, 20-inch alloy wheels, darkened rear taillight housing, and distinctive badging. The package adds heated power fabric front seats, a heated steering wheel and a wiper deicer. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be available at dealerships by September of this year.
