Denis Villeneuve To Direct Dune Remake

Dune reboot: Denis Villeneuve confirmed to direct
Denis Villeneuve - the Oscar-nominated director of Arrival - has been confirmed as the director of the Dune remake. Dune's expansive plot and complex political dynamics can not truly be distilled into a pithy description, but one way to think about the novel, for those unfamiliar, is like Game of Thrones in space. Not long after, news broke that Villeneuve's impossible dream was close to becoming reality, as the director was in talks to helm a new adaptation of Dune.
Legendary Entertainment previously purchased the TV and film rights to the classic sci-fi story, meaning that any project that surfaces from this agreement will have Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Cale Boyter as producers, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert acting as executive producers.
But the reason Dune is not as well-known today as Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings is because it's never been successfully adapted to film. Next up for the esteemed filmmaker is the release of Blade Runner 2049 on October 6th. So there's little doubt that there's still a sci-fi audience out there wanting to see more from Dune. While the film was a commercial failure, it has since gained a cult reputation.
Before that, director Alejandro Jodorowsky had attempted unsuccessfully to bring the tale to the cinema.
Trump to Mexico leader: Pay for wall or meeting is off On Thursday, the initial suggestion was that the wall could be funded through a 20 percent tax on imports from Mexico - a tariff. But if everything goes according to Trump's plan, one thing Texas will soon have to show, is a bigger and broader border wall.
David Lynch's 1984 film adaptation of the celebrated novel, starring Lynch regular Kyle MacLachlan and Sting, was a notorious misfire.
With Blade Runner 2049 still in the hopper, there's no release schedule on Dune quite yet.
The disaster was the inspiration of a 2013 documentary titled Jodorowsky's Dune.
Do you think Denis is the right choice to direct the project?
