Angry Markeith Loyd makes expletive-laden first appearance

Markeith Loyd tells judge he will defend himself during profanity-laced tirade

Markeith Loyd was officially charged in the shooting death of Orlando Police Department Lt. Debra Clayton on Thursday, bringing the number of charges he faces in connection with the crimes to 10.

Loyd was hiding out at an abandoned house in Orlando when he was captured Tuesday, police said.

He went on to speak in defense of three people who were arrested as accomplices for allegedly helping him evade arrest - and placed himself at the Wal-Mart store where the officer was shot.

The judge has also ordered Loyd held without bond.

In court Thursday, Loyd told a judge someone else killed Dixon on December 9, a crime for which he already was facing five charges when Clayton spotted him outside of the Walmart.

"He resisted arrest and there was force used", Orlando Police Chief John Mina said, without elaborating.

New "Fire Emblem" Games Revealed for Switch, 3DS, and Mobile
The launch of the game for both consoles just confirms that they're not shunning the 3DS aside for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Direct presentation where the games were reported was considered the most fiery and emblematic one yet.

"Unbelievably sad someone would vandalize Lt. Debra Clayton's vehicle", Orlando Police posted on its Twitter account.

However, some are noting the disparity between how Loyd's eye was injured compared to how Dylann Roof was treated to Burger King, according to the New York Daily News, after Roof slaughtered nine people. Loyd is charged with murder of a law enforcement officer, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm of a law enforcement officer, armed carjacking, wearing a bulletproof vest while committing a felony and aggravated assault. And when she finally told officers to remove him from the courtroom, Loyd turned to the judge and said "f-- you!" The accused murderer was hospitalized until late Wednesday.

Loyd shot and wounded Clayton January 9 outside a Walmart when she tried to arrest him, Mina said. "After they handcuffed him, and searched him, pulled off his body armor, he had a large bag of ammunition".

"Let's not rush to judgment, let's let the use of force investigation play out, and remember that we're dealing with an extremely risky, violent and unpredictable person", Mina said.

"Everything you say is being recorded, sir", said the judge, who reminded him he was under oath. Loyd's arrest was the result of detective work, not tips from the public, Mina said, despite a $125,000 reward for information leading to Loyd's arrest.

Mina called Loyd a "cold-blooded, ruthless killer", and said Loyd's "long and violent history" will be factored into the use-of-force investigation.
